This recipe for Pineapple Chutney is perfect for those pineapples, which look good and ripe on the outside, and the inside is nothing but sour and hatefully tangy. I absolutely dread eating those and I know you must hate it too.
During one such occasion when I was expressing my frustration, my dear friend Madhavi gave me this recipe. Thanks to her I make this recipe every time I end up buying such a type of pineapple.
Pineapple chutney is actually more of a preserve. I personally serve on the side, or some times during breakfast over toast. It also consists of 3 ingredients which I have to say is pretty small and that is what makes this recipe so remarkably easy and delightful. Enjoy!
3 Ingredient Pineapple Chutney
Ingredients:
3 cups finely chopped fresh pineapple
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
Preparations:
- Combine pineapple, sugar and black pepper in a sauce pan.
- Cook it on medium heat for around 35 minutes or until all the liquid has been absorbed.
- Allow it to cool. Pack it in an airtight container and refrigerate it.
Useful suggestions:
- If you want the pineapple chutney to be a tad bit spicier you can add 3/4 tsp of black pepper instead of 1/4 tsp.
- You can also adjust the sweetness by adding or reducing the amount of sugar

Wow, only three ingredients? This seems like a great recipe to pass along to my mother because she is always trying recipes that do not call for many ingredients. Her latest was a pineapple cake that only called for three ingredients. I bet she would love this recipe too.

I have heard it’s very good. I love pineapples. I never use it fresh because it’s a pain in the butt to cut I always buy the can stuff as I usually just us it with cooking or for making smoothies.

I made this tonight and it tastes amazing. I used canned pineapple chunks and chopped them in small pieces, added the required amount of sugar as per the recipe, added a bit more pepper and 1/8 teaspoon od apple pie spice and pumpkin spice. It turned out so great. Will definitely make this again.

That sounds really tasty, but I am not quite sure how you would eat it. Is it like an ice cream topping or would you eat it on its own as a side dish? Or Dessert?
