Avocado Dip

September 29, 2011 by Babita

Last Updated on December 1, 2021 by Babita

Friday nights are usually  family movie nights at my house. We rent out either a Bollywood or Hollywood kid-friendly movie and watch it. Of course, no movie night is complete without a generous dose of snacks. In my effort to serve healthy fare, I have been making this recipe for Avocado Dip for quite a long time now.  Their buttery texture allows them to absorbs all the flavors of the ingredients around them.  This  recipe does not have any kind of added fat and as such it is a guilt-free indulgence.

It’s very easy and quick. With minimum effort you too can have a great tasting avocado dip. I like it, my husband likes it and the girls love it…so no complains whatsoever. Enjoy.

Avocado Dip

Ingredients

2 whole ripe avocados
1 large tomato
1 medium onion
1 green chilly (optional)
3/4 cup of coriander leaves chopped finely
Juice of 1 large lemon
salt to taste

Method

  • Cut the avocados in halves. Scoop out all the flesh and roughly chop it and put it into a serving bowl.
  • Lightly mash up the avocados with the back of the spoon.
  • Chop up the tomato and onion and add it to the bowl as well.
  • Finally add coriander leaves, lemon juice and salt to the bowl and mix all of them well.
  • Serve it with corn chips.

Useful suggestions

  • Do not mash the avocados completely. You need to get small bite size pieces of them.
  • The addition of lemon juice prevents the avocados from turning brown and also gives them a tangy flavor.  You can, add the juice as per your taste.
Spread the love
