Gasko Family Farm

Father’s Day 2014 at Gasko Family Farm

June 16, 2014 by Babita

I know it is a bit unusual to visit a greenhouse, but that is exactly what we did for Father’s Day. I convinced my DH and my girls to check out Gasko Family Farm and Greenhouses in Monroe Twp, NJ. The farm is only few minutes away from our house. Even though we lived in this township for almost six years now we never visited this farm. Sometimes it is the place closest that you tend to overlook.

I used to hear about Gasko Family Farm from the ads on local radio. One of my friend swore by it and told me she got all her plants from there. Since we really did not have much planned for Father’s Day, I thought it would be great to visit this place.

Gasko Family Farm

My girls were not too happy and did not want to go because they thought it would be boring.  Once we were inside however they went crazy. The Gasko Family Farm is the Sam’s Club version of nursery and greenhouse. It is huge!!! At first it was overwhelming. Since we were not there to make any purchase, I reminded everyone to just look around and I was able to reduce my stress level.

Soon the girls and my DH got comfortable and started looking around. There were rows upon rows with all kinds of flowers and plants. Both TEE and S were begging me to buy plants. I told them if I found something interesting, I would buy. I have to say I have never before seen this many varieties of plants, flowers, shrubs and trees before. For me personally I felt like I was in Flower Wonderland.

Gasko Family Farm Annuals

Like I mentioned before…this place is huge, yet I did not see anything out of place. Every flower plants, shrubs etc., were very neatly place and organized with proper signage for price.

While “S” here was posing with marigolds, I noticed the prices were not only reasonable but low. I found them cheaper than Walmart and Home Depot. Even the prices for pots were 50% lower compared to regular stores.

They also had tons of hanging baskets with different kinds of flowers. At first I thought the prices for these basket were expensive but then realized these baskets were over sized.

The one thing I wish they would have are employees to help out customers with their queries. I did not find any employee other than the one who were stocking up the plants.

Gasko Family Farm Petunias

Even though I went with the intention of only looking and not purchasing, I could not help buy some herbs. Off course TEE and S had to fight over who would pose with the herbs.

I personally wish I could have spent more time at this place. Since it was mid-afternoon and my girls were hungry we had to leave. I will be returning back. For all my local friends who would like to visit, make sure you carry tons of cash or check. They don’t accept credit or debit cards. Also if possible avoids going there during weekends, it is overcrowded.

Believe it or not, I have never visited a green house. I will have to see if there are any in my area, as I am sure the kids would love to go.

What a great trip, I would love to visit there. I am trying to find a house now that has a green house so I can plant things all year long.
