Mega Mesh Screen Door

Keep the Bugs out with Mega Mesh Screen Door #magneticscreendoor

August 21, 2014 by Babita

Last Updated on August 22, 2014 by Babita

My DH and I were shopping for a storm door for quiet some time. He was interested in it because he wanted the option to keep our front door open during summertime. After asking around our local hardware stores we decided to postpone installing one because of the expense involved.

Fortunately I got an opportunity to review this Mega Mesh Screen Door. Obviously I was excited. The Mega Mesh screen door by Easy Install is a panel of high quality mesh that is designed to keep the bugs out while allowing cool breeze to come in.

Mega Mesh Screen Door

As part of this review I wanted to show you how easy it was to install this product. As I removed the mesh from the packet I had to agree it was high quality and not at all flimsy. The instructions provided for the installation was easy to follow with proper and helpful illustrations.

Mesh Screen Door Instruction

My DH offered to help with the installation while I took pictures. He applied the enclosed Velcro strips on to the mesh panel on the top, bottom and the sides.

Installing Velcro On Mesh

The next part was the fun one. That is where things started to go wrong. My DH took it outside to install it over the front door and realized  the width was off by an inch. As you can see in the picture below, the panel was not wide enough to fit the door frame.  I was really disappointed as I really wanted this product to work.

Front Door Mesh Screen

My DH however had this brilliant idea to install it on the door to our garage. My little one “S” goes out to play through this door and always forgets to close up behind her. So we found our happy solution. He took of the white backing from the Velcro and stuck the screen mesh over that door and it fit perfectly. We also decided to secure the sides with additional push pins to reduce any kind of gaps.

You can see “S” having her fun moment running in and out through the screen mesh.

My review:

I really liked this Mega Mesh Screen Door. It is a great product and if you are looking for temporary solution then this is a perfect one. Like it’s mentioned in their description this mesh is of excellent quality. My pictures really don’t do it justice. It is perfect for people with pets and even though I don’t have pets, “S” my little one loves to go in and out this screen door all the time. Since I don’t have to shut the door now, I can also  keep an eye on her while she plays outside by herself. The invisible magnetic center allow the mesh to close up after you which is very convenient.

However, I wish they had more Velcro  strips attached to the sides of the panel. Even though additional push pins were provided to take care of this problem, I think it would have helped to have additional Velcro strips on the panel itself. It was no big deal, as we hammered push pins on the sides and that took care of all the gaps (so no more bugs sneaking from the sides). Overall, I would recommend Mega Mesh Screen Door.  It is available on their website (click here) and on Amazon (click here).

Disclosure: I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

I’ve wanted to get one of these for our back door that never seems to close (thanks kids), but wasn’t sure how good it actually worked. Thanks for letting me know! 🙂

This looks like something that would do well here in India for sure.

I love this idea since it closes up by itself. Kids aren’t the best at closing doors, so this solves that problem.

We purchased this product several years ago for a back door we wanted to keep bugs out but allow our dogs to come in and out freely. It worked wonderfully and although the dogs were a little afraid of it at first, they figured it out quickly and were using it with ease within a few hours.

we have this and I love it for keeping bugs out. But I agree, more velcro would help with keeping it up and in place. especially if it is a high traffic spot

I’d like something like this for our backdoor when we have company over. It’d keep the bugs out and make entry/exit to the yard easy!

I got something similar for testing as well, but it was too small to fit our door! So sad 🙁

We need one of these for our patio door! A few years ago we had a small party and someone broke our screen door! Now it is so hard to keep bugs out when my husband is cooking out on the deck!

This would be a perfect way for me to leave the door open for our dogs to come in and out, without all the flies they tend to let in also!

As I lie here covered in about 12 different mosquito bites, I saw your post and remembered how I saw this product a while back and promised myself I would buy it. Thanks for the reminder – no excuses now!!

That is one thing I hate about the summer, all the bugs come out and find ways into our homes.

I like how easy it was to install. This would be perfect for when we have outdoor parties and people are going in and out. We usually don’t need a screen door but I have wished for one when we were entertaining!

These things are amazing. I have a couple of them. The one got ruin rather quickly because we didn’t install it correctly, but the second one, after installing correctly, lasted us the whole summer!

You must live in a really safe neighborhood with really mild temperatures in the summer time to be able to open the door and not worry about it. Here we’re still getting triple digit numbers.

We live in a wooded area and the bug population seems higher around here than anywhere else, so this would probably be something I should look into.
