Are you Ready for Meggings

January 21, 2014 by Babita

Last Updated on January 22, 2014 by Babita

As someone who went to school and studied Fashion, I like to keep up with the latest trends. I don’t follow all the trends blindly, but I do like to read and educate myself with the latest and the must haves from the world of fashion. As a self-titled fashion expert (only for my family), I like to educate my girls and my DH of the trends too. My DH is a very simple jeans and T-shirt kind of guy. He does not care much for fashion. However after my relentless nagging he does concede once in a while to follow with my fashion demands. When I asked him to try on slim fit pants, he did it to make me happy (I think he did it more to shut me up 🙂 ).

Anyway, when I read an article about meggings going mainstream, I was almost tempted to tease him to try it (just for fun, I was not really going to do it). Meggings are leggings for men. Yes, you heard it right. The 80’s fashion statement of rock and roll is making a comeback. Designed by Chicago-based Adam Freck and Andrew Volk these bold and really fitting, stretchy, tight pants retail for around $29.95 and is available in tons of finishes and sizes. Celebrities like Russell brand and Justin Beiber are flaunting them.

The designers of these meggings have stated, “men want to wear them, and that’s a fact! There are always naysayers with any new piece of fashion”. I however, am not sure if that statement is true. I am sorry but I don’t think my man wants to wear this. Unless he is in profession where tights are required, I don’t think I would tolerate this particular trend. While I feel the younger and skinner guys could pull it off, I personally don’t wish to see anyone I know with meggings. As for my DH, this is one trend I am not going to harass him to wear.

OMG, meggings! Too funny. I don’t think either myself or my husband would ever be inclined to wear these things!

Say it isn’t so!!! I do not want to see this, I am open minded but I just “can’t with those meggings”. If they have lace around the ankle that would really sum it up. Thank you for sharing now I have something to laugh at #Sitsblogging.

I just showed my husband and told him how good he’d look in those american flag meggings. Bahahaha! I sure hope that trend stays far far away!

Lol!! Love this post. I am in fashion industry and my husband likes to think he is fashionable as well. However, part of being a mature adult is being honest with yourself and recognizing what will work for you and what won’t! I didn’t even know there was a name for these things! Meggigings definitely have no place in my world or my husband’s, Thank God! I love your idea of teasing your hubby and trying to get him to wear them just to see his response! ☺Maybe I could buy him a pair for Valentines day and capture his response on film…. there’s a lot of fun to be had with this! #sitsblogging

Usually I’m open to fashion for both men and women but I think some styles just dont cross over. I’m not a fan of the leggings for men idea.

OK, those actually look comfy…but, obviously, I’m not a man. LOL. I’ve been known to wear leggings under my outer pants on super cold days…

My aunt saw something about this on the news last night or this morning and was telling me about them. She said – well – “Aren’t they just shine-y thermals?” I laughed and agreed.

The word ‘meggings’ caught my eye and well not sure I’m game for these. I know my husband would frown upon them, but then again I’m thinking the younger generation MIGHT catch onto this while the older generation(s) may not. BUT you never know. Not sure I’m game for the one w/ the US flag, but the black ones look nice.

Unless they are performing in a ballet men should never wear anything this–heavens they look terrible. I myself will not wear leggings-I tried them on once–uh-lets just say I will leave them for the skinny young girls out there!
