See the Scenic Beauty of Murbad Waterfalls

August 29, 2016 by Babita

Last Updated on August 29, 2016 by Babita

Hey everyone, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Naveen Shetty and I will be occasionally contributing to this blog. You may wonder why I am contributing to this particular blog? Well this is my sister’s blog and she was nice enough to let me guest post and support my passion for photography. In addition to photography, I also love to travel and tell stories through my lens. I have traveled extensively all over the world, however these days my travels are within India. I look for small pockets of gems (villages) hidden and tucked away far yet near the hustle and bustle of the city.

Recently I visited a small village of  Singapur in Murbad Taluka (Thane District) which is about three and half hours away from Mumbai. I traveled with my yoga group for a day trip. This village is known for its waterfalls. The waterfalls are so local that it does not have a name and sometimes is known as Murbad Waterfalls. Little did we know that our casual visit to the waterfall would be way beyond our expectations. The 2-3 km walk from our resort turned into a very pleasant hike for all of us yoga enthusiasts.  The vision of the areas was absolutely breathtaking. We were completely immersed in natural greenery, surrounded with fog laden mountains.

On our way to the waterfall we came across newly planted rice fields.

Just looking at the picture makes me want to leave my city life behind and live in one of those homes below with amazing picturesque mountains in the background.

After what seems like a tiring hike, we finally came upon the waterfalls. Since it is monsoon season now in India, all the mountains are dotted with waterfalls like these.

As we made our way back to the resort we could not help but feel rejuvenated. No one in our group wanted to go back.

Many times we spend a fortune to experience and see beautiful scenery outside (another city or country), we fail to see the beauty in our own backyard. We  forget that approximately 57 kilometers away from Mumbai exists a place which not only offers unexpected trekking but is a visual treat with its amazing waterfalls and lush tropical landscape.

I have never been to India, but having a Indian friend around I know few cities like Mumbai, Bangalore & Chennai a bit. The murbad waterfalls is quiet stunning and I love how the entire location is gifted with nature’s beauty!
