Spicy Grilled Shrimp

Spicy Grilled Shrimp

June 12, 2013 by Babita

Last Updated on June 13, 2013 by Babita

Yesterday evening was exceptionally pleasant. The sun was out but not too harsh. The agreeable temperature accompanied by cool breeze was enough for me to shun the kitchen.  As I was still obsessing over what to make for dinner I remembered I had some frozen shrimps in the freezer. I whipped them out applied a quick marinade and it was all ready for the grill. Check out my recipe for Spicy Grilled Shrimp and let me know what you think of it.

Spicy Grilled Shrimp

Ingredients:

1 lb shrimps (prawns)
1 tbsp chilli powder
1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
1 tbsp soy sauce
1/4 tsp turmeric (optional)
1 tbsp oil
salt as per taste

Preparation:

  • Clean and devein shrimps. Rinse them in water, drain  and set them aside.
  • In a bowl prepare the marinade by whisking together chilli powder, ginger-garlic paste, soy sauce, turmeric, salt and oil.
  • Add the shrimp to the marinade.
  • Let it marinate for about 15-20 minutes.
  • Take some bamboo skewers. Soak them in cold water.
  • Thread each shrimp on to the skewers.
  • With a brush or PAM apply oil lightly over the grill grate.
  • Grill the shrimp skewers for about 7 minutes each side.
  • Serve with rice or garlic bread.

Useful Suggestions:

  • If you don’t like it spicy add paprika instead of chilli powder.
  • If you soak bamboo skewers in cold water they will not burn when placed over a hot grill.
  • You can bake spicy grilled shrimp in the oven too. Just set the temperature to 425 degrees and allow it to cook for 5- 7 minutes each side.

I would have to leave out the spices, but yum!

Just what I have been surfing around for, thanks so much for sharing. Back to the grocery store I go, I don’t have any soy sauce.
