Whatever Wanda 2

Whatever Wanda Book Review and Giveaway

April 2, 2015 by Babita

Last Updated on May 25, 2016 by Babita

As a parent I have faced some days where my girls are just not in the mood to do anything. They are grumpy and whiny especially TEE my darling teenager. Like the character in the book “Whatever Wanda”, I feel like they too need some attitude adjustment. So when I received this book for review purpose, I felt it was a perfect teaching opportunity for my girls.

In the book “Whatever Wanda”, the main character is in a miserable mood. She does not want to spend time with her family who want to attend the Rubber Duck Days Festival. Wanda thinks this event is lame and silly and does not want to be bothered by it.

She attends the event with the family and obviously she is not very happy about it. Every time she is asked to do something, she grumbles and says “whatever” showing off her indifference. Eventually she reaches a point when she notices, everyone is having fun except her.

We almost had a “Whatever Wanda” kind of moment here. I was asking ‘S‘ to pose for me with the book (she had already read the book before) and for some reason, she was not not in the mood. I reminded her to read the book once again, and asked her if she was behaving like Wanda. She must have had an epiphany because after that she willing and patiently posed for me.

One of the things I liked about this book was the message at the end. One of the characters (I won’t reveal the name) says to Wanda ” It seems to me that you just need an attitude adjustment. Sometimes you have to believe something will be great before it actually is. Being positive is a choice that makes everything better — not to mention, a whole lot more fun!”

Review:

I thought this message was so appropriate not only for children but for adults as well. We as adults also need attitude adjustments from time to time. I think every parent should read this book along with their kids. It has 32 pages so is perfect for kids. The language is easy for small readers. The illustrator Paige Billin-Frye has done a wonderful job with the pictures and all the characters look lifelike.

About the Author:

Christy Ziglar is a financial planner and mother of twins, She lives with her husband and twins in Atlanta, Georgia.

For those who enjoyed reading my post, this is your lucky day. You can now enter the giveaway to win a copy of this book which I am sure will make a great gift for the kid in your life. This giveaway is open to residents of US and Canada only.

Thanks so much for the Fantastic Review on Whatever Wanda Book Review! I’ve read other posts about this book as well and it really must be a good book! Everyone raves about it! I know that I should have had this book when my oldest daughter was growing up! She had such a major attitude and I’d ask her all the time “What color is the sky in your world?”. She’s married now and has 2 children of her own and lives far from all of our family because her husband is in the Army. Believe It or not, she has never lost her attitude either! She still has it! I think that I need to get a copy of this book and send it to her and tell her it’s for the kids (maybe something will sink in when she reads it to them!) Thanks so much for sharing your fantastic review, the pictures, and your personal and professional information on Whatever Wanda Book Review with all of us! I honestly do appreciate it!!!! Thanks again! Michele 🙂

There are duckies on the cover, my mother inlaw would get this book just for the ducks on the front alone.

My 10 year old needs a major attitude adjustment. I guess that tween moodiness thing is real. I am going to get a copy of this for him & his brother to read.

I have a little niece who I could gift this book too. She doesn’t need an attitude adjustment at this point but I think she would still enjoy the book. She loves book. Too funny about your daughter giving you a “Wanda” moment for this review. 🙂

Oh I have a few Whatever Wanda’s at my house but they’re boys. Guess I can call them Whatever William’s. If I won I would probably give it to them to read because they surely need an attitude adjustment most times.
