"Monogrammed Tote"

Monogrammed Tote with Hindi Script

December 6, 2012 by Babita

I know what you are thinking…. not another tote. Actually, I was planning on making this one for quiet some time now. My little one started attending Hindi language classes at our local temple. I wanted to make her a monogrammed tote, which she could use to carry her textbooks. But, It took me a long time to come up with a design. I knew I wanted to monogram it in Hindi script. I just had troubled putting it all together. After several weeks of pondering, I finally I came up with this design. Hope you all like it too.

The first step obviously was to sew the tote. I used cotton canvas fabric, which I bought from Jo-Anns. If you are interested on how to sew this tote check out the tutorial here at Totes Project.

Next, I started with the design. I wanted the design to look like it was a pendant dangling from a chain, so I roughly sketched the pattern directly over the tote. Once that was done, I colored the Hindi script (which in this case translates to ‘S’ or “Sa’) in FolkArt Acrylic neon pink paint and the rest I finished with a bronze acrylic paint. The consistency of the pink paint was on the thinner side, so I had to apply several coats.

I think it turned out pretty well. However, I wish the neon pink would stand out a bit more. Overall, I was more than satisfied with the whole look and design.

As I have received a lot of interest for this monogrammed tote, I have put it up for sale in my ETSY shop. Of course, it is going to be made to order, so it would be great if you would check it out.

Spread the love
