Mr and Mrs Pumpkin

Mr and Mrs Pumpkin for Halloween 2013

October 25, 2013 by Babita

Last Updated on October 25, 2013 by Babita

Mr and Mrs Pumpkin are our theme for this Halloween. It all started innocently. TEE is a huge fan of the mustache clipart. She is always doodling it on her notebooks, our IdeaPaint wall, whiteboard and any other space she can find. So collectively we decided to make a mustache pumpkin and to take it further we decided to pair it with Mrs. Pumpkin.

My role in the project was exclusively as a supervisor and was on hand for consultation only. “TEE” started with her pumpkin first. She drew and colored the mustache on the pumpkin with a sharpie permanent marker (that part was easy).

Mr Pumpkin

“S” had a bit difficult job to do. She had to paint the whole pumpkin black. She patiently did that and then we waited for the paint to dry. Since it was their sleeping time, I told them to catch up with it the next day.

Mrs Pumpkin

Today they had half-day in their school and was back home early. After having their lunch both “TEE” and “S” proceed to work on their pumpkins. “TEE” combined orange and black pipe cleaners and placed them along with with some hay. She then pinned them all around the stalk.

She finished the whole look by placing a mini witch’s hat over the stalk. Her Mr. Pumpkin was all ready to rock…. (although I feel he looked like he was balding from one side)

“S” in the meantime cut out the foam lip (which I had traced) and glued it over her Mrs. Pumpkin (yeah, she looks scary…)

Earlier we had found this Halloween themed purple witch hat hairband with feathers and netted fabric in Christmas Tree Shoppe. “S” decided to use that to place over the stalk of the pumpkin. It fit perfectly.

That’s it! Mr and Mrs Pumpkin were ready for their debut. I hope you all enjoyed this project my girls made.

Spread the love

This is such a wonderful and creative alternative to carving out the pumpkins. Every year I worry that the kids are going to cut their fingers off carving the Jack O’ Lanterns.

That is so cute. We haven’t done anything at all this year. I really need to get with the program but the kids haven’t asked to do anything either so I guess I’m good.

What a cute idea! I’m kind of challenged when it comes to my pumpkin carving skills, so maybe I need to take a tip from you and do some painting this year. 🙂 Happy Halloween!
