When I was asked to do a review for Sheer Cover Studio, I was excited. I had seen their infomercials and was curious about their products. The reason I never ordered, is because I am not a put-on-your-makeup-everyday kind of woman. I use makeup occasionally. I distrust them for two reasons a) I don’t know how to use them and b) I have a tough time matching the foundation to my skin tone (either I end up with a pale foundation or a very dark one).
Anyway I received the following products from Sheer Cover Studio courtesy of Modern Mom. Below is the list of products I received in their makeup kit.
- Base Perfecter Primer
- Conceal & Brighten Trio
- Mineral Foundation
- Sun Kissed Bronzing Minerals
- Lengthening Mascara
- Lash Extending Fibers
- Assortment of makeup brushes
- A guide with step-by-step instructions
Since I am amateur in applying makeup, I enlisted the help of TEE who nowadays considers herself an expert. You can see my before picture below. As you can see I have dark circles under my eyes and although it is not visible in the picture I have sunspots in several areas of my face.
The kit also included a nicely illustrated instructions guide with great pictures. The guide did not mention the primer, but I washed my face, applied the moisturizer and over it applied the Sheer Cover primer. The primer was smooth and not sticky. It felt good on my face.
The next step as per the guide was to apply the Concealer and Brightener. I was not sure how much of this to apply and when I did apply a little it did not conceal any spot. On hindsight I think It was my mistake, I should have applied the concealer more generously.
The next instructions was to lightly brush over the mineral foundation in circular motion. I did that and proceeded to the next part where I had to apply the bronzing mineral. I followed the directions and felt like this one product is not for me. I have combination skin. The minute I applied the bronzing mineral, it dried up my face and I saw patches or flakes of dried skin. It was too late to remove it so I tried my best to hide it with lightly applying the primer in those spot and covering it up with mineral foundation.
Now I have to mention my favorite product. It is the lengthening mascara and lash extending fibers. I was very impressed with both these products. They not only added volume but also added length to my lashes. I was thoroughly surprised at the result.
TEE then applied eyeliner on my upper eyelids and I finished off with a touch of kohl and some lipstick (these were not included in the kit). Below is my after picture.
My review:
I would rate it 5 out of 5 for ease of application. The step and instructions provided are easy to follow and great for a newbie. I ordered the mineral foundation in medium tone and it came pretty close to matching with my skin. I did not like the bronzing mineral at all and will be skipping that. I loved, loved the mascara and the lengthening lash fibers. They were amazing.

I love this look on you tht lipstick is perfect not too light or too dark. You look pulled together a lot better in the after then in the first one and you look like you can be ready to go to work. Beautiful face with out the make up on too.
You certainly look great before, but you really glow in the second photo! This sounds like some amazing makeup!
I’m not much of a makeup girl either but love to know what works well (and how to use it) when I do decide to wear makeup.

For blemishes, you will still have to use some kind of concealer/corrector to cover them.

You are beautiful without makeup so I can see why you don’t wear it much. Your after shot is simply amazing. TEE did a really nice job. You are glowing and you certainly can see where this make-up can give just the right enhancements.

Wow- what a huge difference!! Ever since I’ve been doing TV segments on the news, I’ve been searching for a new foundation that provides a lot of coverage without looking cakey. HD is not forgiving on my skin!

With make up or without make up you are beautiful! Same here, I don’t wear make up very often but it’s nice to experiment in some days that I can wear it so that I will know which make up colors will look good on me.
I never wear makeup and if some special occasion calls for it I like bare minimum and not to look like I am wearing it.

Well look at you… You clean up nice. I like when a cover up feels light on your face. Those heavy ones just make my face feel greasy.
Since I started working from home I stopped wearing makeup everyday unless I have to leave the house. Seems like such a waste for me to put it on otherwise. I love how this kit comes with brushes and such. And, you look amazing!

This looks terrific! I am like you in that I only wear makeup occasionally and it intimidates me because I can never find the right colors either. I either look like a ghost or extremely two dark. I would love to try this out!
