Liquid Chalk Markers

DIY Monogram Frame with Liquid Chalk Markers

July 30, 2015 by Babita

Last Updated on May 18, 2016 by Babita

I have to begin by saying I was not aware of Liquid Chalk Markers before I received them for review purpose. However once I received them my little one ‘S’ was really happy and could not wait to try it out. She thought that I was the coolest mom ever because we got to try out all the  cool products. If you have not heard of Liquid Chalk Markers then read below.

These are fluorescent markers from Stardom Crafts. These can be used on glass, plastic, metal, glossy boards, LED boards and any other non-porous surfaces. They are non-toxic. Since they are water based they can be wiped off easily with a wet towel or tissue.

Actually ‘S’ really wanted to start using it on the surfaces mentioned above… mainly all the glass windows in our house. She literally wanted to use these markers and write her name and draw her favorite turtle on all of our windows. However, I cautioned her because I was not sure if they really worked the way they were supposed to.

So we decided to use them to make a monogram frame. I had these dollar store frame in my work area which I thought would be perfect for this craft. I started off by disassembling the frame. I then gave ‘S’ the glass piece to decorate. I made sure to place the glass over a towel so as to avoid scratching the surface of my breakfast table.

She was very particular in what she wanted to do and which color she wanted to use. So she choose the hot pink to draw out the first name initial.

In the meantime I cut out a piece of scrapbook paper to use as the background. I fitted this on the back of the frame and re-assembled the frame including the glass piece. ‘S’ then finished off by drawing lines and dots on all four sides of the frame.

This is the finished version. I have to say this was one of the easiest projects ‘S’ did. The liquid chalk markers were easy to use. When ‘S’ was using it she made some mistakes, but she was not very worried because she was able to wipe it off with a damp tissues. All the colors were rich and vibrant and that really made them stand out.

That was not all. Once she was done with this craft, she went ahead and did what she really was really itching to do…. scribble on our glass kitchen doors.

These liquid chalk markers are available on Amazon (click here) for $24.99. As long as you follow all the instructions on the back of the box on how to use them you are good. Also remember to use it only on non-porous surface.

Disclosure: I received this product for review purpose. All opinions here are honest and my own. I also have to mention this post contain some affiliate links.

That’s cool. These are a lot less messy than the chalk that we have at home. Right now they only play on the sidewalk.
